Peabody Students Take on Spelling Bee Challenge

PEABODY, MA – The top spellers in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade at Higgins Middle School competed for the top spot last week at the 7th annual spelling bee at the Northshore Mall.

The Daily Item's Annual Regional Spelling Bee, which takes the top contestants in the area, will be on March 10.

From Higgins, Sofia Valencia won first, Owen Stanley won second, and Belle Lurie won third at the Feb. 15 competition. Valencia will proceed onto the regional spelling bee. Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt welcomed the Higgins students and their families along with Higgins Principal Todd Bucey
