In Retrial, Peabody Doctor Guilty Of Sexual Assault On Patient

Walter Levitsky, 87, will face up to 2.5 years in prison when he is sentenced for indecent assault and battery.

PEABODY, MA — A Peabody doctor whose first trial on charges he sexually assaulted a patient ended in mistrial was found guilty Friday. Walter Levitsky, 87, will face up to 2.5 years in prison when he is sentenced for indecent assault and battery on Friday. Levitsky, who surrendered his medical license, was ordered held without bail while he awaits sentencing.

In May, a Peabody District Court jury could not decide whether Levitsky's admission that he placed his hands on a patient's breasts, commented on her appearance and called her "sexy" amounted to sex assault. Levitsky took the stand in that trial and admitted that he told the patient to "show me your boobs." But he said comments about the way she looked were meant to reassure the woman about her appearance.
