Salem Man Nabbed on Drug Charge With Intent to Distribute
The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following excerpts are from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log on Oct. 19-20.
Saturday, Oct. 19
- 7:45 a.m. Eddy G. Mendez, 25, of 30 Pleasant St. #2, Salem, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Lynn Street. He was charged with improper passing and possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug. Class B substances include cocaine, methadone and LSD.
- 8:32 a.m. A caller reported there was a young male in the area of Buxton Street and Smidt Avenue possibly trying to do something to a car parked in a driveway. The male was described as a young teenager, either Hispanic or black, with short black hair and wearing red shorts and a backpack. A second resident then informed police the valve caps on his tires were stolen.
- 9:31 a.m. A caller reported two suspicious looking black male teenagers were looking into people's cars and entering driveways on Northend Street. She said both teens had backpacks and were wearing red shorts. Officers located the pair and brought them to the station, where they were eventually picked up by their parents.
- 10:18 a.m. A caller reported there was a male and female in the area of Farnham Park who appeared to be smoking marijuana. Police located the pair and sent them on their way.
- 10:30 a.m. A Glen Drive resident reported his debit card was stolen and then used for a $29 purchase in Salem.
- 11:56 a.m. A Tanners Court resident walked into the station to report her son's ex-girlfriend "committed fraud" on her son's cell phone account.
- 12:11 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 114 near Chandler's Ice Cream. One vehicle was towed and one passenger was taken to Salem Hospital.
- 12:37 p.m. A caller reported a road rage incident on Lowell Street near Su Chang's in which a female driver allegedly tried to crash into his vehicle and words were exchanged.
- 1:06 p.m. Report of a two-vehicle accident at the corner of Walnut and Caller streets. One person was taken to Lahey Medical Center with a heady injury. Both vehicles were towed.
- 2:11 p.m. A 50-year-old Malden man was issued a court summons for driving with an expired license, following a car accident on Route 1.
- 6:39 p.m. A caller at Bonkers Funhouse reported a theft of a purse.
- 7:31 p.m. Police responded to a report of a domestic assault at a Lynnfield Street home involving one male and two females. The male was issued a court summons.
Sunday, Oct. 20
- 12:28 a.m. An officer documented graffiti at the corner of Dearborn Road and Route 1.
- 12:30 a.m. An officer documented graffiti on the city bike path.
- 1:06 a.m. An America Drive resident reported a past break-in to his home. He said prescription medication was missing. Police said 30-40 pills were stolen, but there were no signs of forced entry.
- 6:45 a.m. An officer documented graffiti at the Porter Engineering building on Mill Street.
- 7:06 a.m. An officer documented graffiti at A&F Autobody Repair on Webster Street.
- 9:03 a.m. Nicholas S. Fortin, 25, of 18 Krochmal Rd., Peabody, was arrested, following a report of a domestic incident at the home. Fortin was charged with domestic assault and battery.
- 10:46 a.m. A caller on Henry Terrace said her rear window was broken overnight.
- 12:58 p.m. A 52-year-old Peabody resident was issued a court summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after a crash at the corner of Lowell and King streets.
- 2:31 p.m. A caller on Dana Road reported there was a red "rice rocket" type motorcycle riding around the neighborhood at high speed. The operator had on a red helmet. Police were unable to find the bike.
- 3:08 p.m. A caller at Eagan Place reported there was a large group of kids nearby being loud and smoking weed. Police checked the area, but didn't find anyone.
- 3:36 p.m. A caller at Eagan Place reported there were two youths in the area who appeared to be smoking drugs. Police located three juveniles and sent them on their way.
- 3:40 p.m. An employee at Bonkers Funhouse reported a theft of an iPhone 5.
- 6:31 p.m. A 14-year-old was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise at Sears.
- 6:59 p.m. A A 70-year-old North Reading man was issued a court summons on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and driving with a suspended license, following a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the plaza at 300 Andover St.
- 7:55 p.m. A caller reported her daughter was assaulted by some other girls at Pierpont Park.
- 11:13 p.m. A caller at Tedeschi's on Main Street reported a lost or stolen wallet. Police said the wallet contained a Connecticut driver's license and some credit cards, which had already been fraudulently used.
