Explosion-Like Booms In Peabody Were From Military Funeral

PEABODY, MA — A military funeral in Lynnfield had some west Peabody residents on edge Monday afternoon after they heard a series of booms around 1:30 p.m.

Several people took to social media to report a series of building-shaking explosions in west Peabody Monday afternoon. The first social media report of the explosions appeared on Twitter at 1:27 p.m. A short time later, however, Lynnfield police contacted Peabody police to say the sounds were coming from the funeral, according to scanner reports.
