State Approves Feasibility Study For Peabody School
The approval is another step forward to make repairs at the school that city leaders have been fighting to get for more than 20 years.
PEABODY, MA — A long-awaited project at the William A. Welch Elementary School on Swampscott Avenue in Peabody took another step forward Wednesday when the Massachusetts School Building Authority approved a feasibility study for the project. City leaders have been looking for the upgrades at the school for more than 20 years. The upgrades include replacing the school's inefficient heating system, as well as frosted windows.
"These Feasibility Studies will carefully examine potential solutions to the issues identified at the school facilities and will help us develop the most cost effective plan to address those issues," state Treasurer Deborah Goldberg said. "We look forward to partnering with the Districts to move these potential projects forward."
Peabody was one of four school districts to be approved for feasibility studies by MSBA.
