Video: Making Apple Cider Donuts at Honey Dew

Patch editor William Laforme recently stopped in to Honey Dew Donuts in Wakefield for a demonstration of a New England fall classic.

Apple cider donuts are one of the most classic New England treats, commonly spotted during the fall at the region's fairs, farms and orchards. They're as delicious as they are New England - And this is the peak time of year for finding them.

With that in mind, I recently stopped in to Honey Dew Donuts near the 129 Rotary in Wakefield to meet the company's community manager, Kara Bowen, and baker Marcos Silva, who on any given night will make as many as 3,000 donuts for six local Honey Dew shops.

Silva provided a donut-making demonstration for this video clip, creating a batch of both glazed apple cider and cinnamon sugar apple cider donuts, which are available through November. Getting to sample these things while still warm was about as good as it gets.

The Peabody store at 130 Newbury St. will be opening soon.
