Obamacare Regulations Cripple Stateβs Health Connector

Once considered an overwhelming success, theΒ Massachusetts Health ConnectorΒ has been frustrating consumers since the implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act.
For years, the Health Connector connected Bay Staters looking for health insurance with insurers and wasΒ heralded as a model for other health exchanges.
However, with Obamacare becoming law, Massachusetts needed to make changes to the site to comply with the federal regulations.

The Boston GlobeΒ reported that the changes have locked out users and given users error messages. The issues have caused some without insurance or needing to file paper forms to remain insured.
The Globe estimates more than 24,000 Bay Staters needed to turn to paper to keep insurance.

βThe Connectorβs new website has performed so poorly that the state has all but abandoned attempts to fix it. The agencyβs staff is expected to report Thursday to its board about options for holding the vendor, CGI, accountable,β reported The Globe.
