1 Killed, 3 Injured, Including Firefighter, In Middleborough Blaze

MIDDLEBOROUGH, MA — A Middleborough condo blaze claimed one life and left three others injured, including a firefighter.

Crews responded to the fire on Ashley Lane shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday, the Middleborough Fire Department said in a media release.

Firefighters encountered "heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second floors of the attached condo building, at both the front and rear of the building," the release said. "The fire had also extended to adjacent condo units."

The adjacent units "sustained significant damages," according to the release.

"One person, an adult, was pronounced dead at the scene," the release said. "Two other residents were transported by Carver EMS to an area hospital for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries."

A firefighter was also hospitalized "with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries," according to the release.
