Wareham Arsonist Charged With Attempted Murder: Police
Police said a Wareham man doused a woman in lighter fluid and torched a home on Restful Lane.

WAREHAM, MA — A Wareham man was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder after police said he doused a woman in lighter fluid and torched a residence with her inside last week. Mondel Johnson, 40, was taken into custody in Fall River, police said. The woman survived the ordeal and ran to a neighbor for help, according to police. She was treated at Tobey Hospital and released.
The fire happened March 29 at a Restful Lane residence. Police said Johnson assaulted the woman then doused her in fluid and set the fire. The residence was a complete loss.
Johnson was also charged with arson and assault. He was held in custody pending a dangerousness hearing Friday in Wareham District Court.
