1 Killed In Multiple-Car Crash In Reading

Police said the crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Main and Hopkins streets.

READING, MA — One person died and two others were injured in a four-car crash in Reading on Friday night.

Police said the crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Main and Hopkins streets.

According to police, a gray Volvo XC70 was traveling southbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a green Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound on Hopkins Street, toward the intersection with Main Street.

As both cars approached the intersection, police said the Volvo ran a red light and struck the driver’s side door of the Ford.

According to police, the Ford then spun into northbound traffic on Main Street and collided with a gray Audi Q7. The Volvo also collided with a gray Toyota RAV4 after the initial crash.

The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the Volvo and a passenger from the RAV4 were also injured and taken to local hospitals.
