5 More Reading Students Test Positive For COVID-19

Four students who have been remote this week and one student who attended in-person classes have tested positive for the virus.

READING, MA — Five more students in the Reading Public Schools have tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced Thursday. Earlier in the week, Superintendent John Doherty said two in-person students, a remote student and a staff member had tested positive.

Four of the five students were remote this past week. Two are students at the Joshua Eaton Elementary School, and two are Reading Memorial High School students. One student attended in-person classes at the Coolidge Middle School this week.

All students and staff who were potentially in close contact have been identified and are quarantining for two weeks, Doherty said. The impacted classroom at Coolidge was disinfected through a misting process Wednesday and will not be used for 24 hours.
