Book Discussion at Senior Center

The Not-Too-Stuffy Book Group will meet at the , 49 Pleasant Street, on Thursday, September 20th at 1:00 p.m. to discuss The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer, yet her cells--taken without her knowledge--became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first "immortal" human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than sixty years.

Copies of this book are available at the Reading Public Library and at the Senior Center.  The group meets in the Senior Center Lounge on the second floor; the discussion will be led by Barbara Currie.  All are welcome to attend this program, and no registration is necessary, bring a friend!
