Area Group To Host Nutcracker Performances

READING, MA — Area community members will have a chance to catch The Nutcracker on stage this weekend via a performance by the Reading-based Northeast Youth Ballet.

The ballet includes 85 local residents, as noted in a press release this week.

The familiar Nutcracker Christmas story tells the tale of a young girl in 1930s Germany embarking on a winter wonderland journey full of magic.

The upcoming Northeast Youth Ballet production will host shows at the J. Everett Collins Center for the Performing Arts in Andover.

The show schedule is as follows:

• Friday, Dec. 9 - 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 10 - 2 p.m.
• Saturday Dec. 10 - 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, Dec. 11 - 2 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now for prices ranging between $30 and $45.

Complimentary tickets are available to qualified individuals through the NYB S.T.A.R.S, Program, which operates as a community outreach program focused on encouraging and educating individuals of all ages who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a ballet.

Dancers in this upcoming performance hail from communities around Greater Boston, according to organizers.
