Artis Senior Living Facility Public Hearing Continued

The hearing will be continued on July 8 at 8 p.m.

The Community Planning and Development Commission (CPDC) held a Public Hearing Monday night for the Site Plan Review Approval for the Artis Senior Living Facility that will open where Eric's was located on Main Street, according to the Chronicle.

The CPDC reviewed the application, which proposed a plan to demolish the existing buildings and build a 64-bed assisted living facility. The facility focuses on patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Town Planner Jean Delios said that the purpose of the hearing was not to finalize the construction plans, but to allow those associated with the planning to share the progress of the proposed construction and to give residents a chance to voice their opinions, the Chronicle said.

“I know there have been a number of public meetings and hearings with the neighbors,” Delios said in the article. “But, I think the parking and conservation issues certainly propose a challenge."

At the end of the meeting, the CPDC was concerned about driveways, parking, fire safety and snow interference, the Chronicle said. After residents voiced concerns about parking, the CPDC suggested possibly redesigning the parking lot, according to the Chronicle. The Artis representatives thought that was possible.

There will be another public hearing on July 8 at 8 p.m., given that more negotiations are necessary. The Medical Marijuana public hearing will also take place that night.
