READING, MA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Reading, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Reading Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year.
The first day of school for most students in Reading is Wednesday, Aug. 27.

- No school Aug. 29
- Labor Day: Sept. 1
- Columbus Day: Oct. 13
- Staff in-service day: Oct. 14
- Veterans Day: Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving recess: Nov. 27 and 28
- Winter recess: Dec. 24 to Jan. 2
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Jan. 19
- February vacation: Feb. 16 to 20
- Staff in-service day: March 4
- April vacation: April 20 to 24
- Memorial Day: May 25
- Last day: June 15
