Burnt Transformer Connection Caused Reading Power Outage: RMLD

The outage hit a neighborhood north of downtown Reading around 9 p.m. Monday night.

READING, MA — A burnt connection at a transformer was likely to blame for a power outage that hit part of Reading Monday night, according to the Reading Municipal Light Department.

The department first announced an outage around 9 p.m. in an area around Franklin Street and Terrace Park off Main Street north of downtown.

Reading Municipal Light shared an update around 9:50 p.m., identifying the burnt connection as the reason for the issue.

Power had been restored with repairs made as of 9:50 p.m., the department said.
