Emily Dickinson Evening at the Reading Library

The event will be on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m.

The following was submitted by the Reading Public Library:

“I’m Nobody! Who are you?” Who was the 'I' to whom Emily Dickinson referred in her poetry?  Was she writing about herself or someone else?  The truth about this reclusive Massachusetts poet will be revealed!  On Thursday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. local resident and Emily Dickinson scholar, Harold Bond will talk about Dickinson and her life and times and will read a selection of her poems which have been especially chosen for their personal aspect. He will discuss the meaning behind the poems, explaining the personal nature of this poetry.  

Harold Bond, retired from teaching English for 38 years at , has acted extensively in both ensemble and one-man shows.  He is also a member of the Emily Dickinson International Society and has recently published an article in their Bulletin. In addition, he has written a play about Emily Dickinson, entitled The Man of Letters.
