Former Reading School Committee Member Susan Cavicchi Dies

Cavicchi, who also served on the Recreation Committee and as a Town Meeting member, was 78 years old.

READING, MA — A former member of the Reading School Committee has died. Susan Cavicchi was 78 years old.

Cavicchi passed away Aug. 11 after a "period of declining health," according to her obituary. Visiting hours were held Aug. 16, and funeral services were private.

Cavicchi was heavily involved in Reading politics. In addition to her tenure on the School Committee, she served on the Recreation Committee and as a Town Meeting member.

Cavicchi was an "avid gardener" and enjoyed "reading, sewing, decorating, going to the movies and doing crossword puzzles," according to her obituary. She was the executive director of the Massachusetts Security Contractors Association, later the Massachusetts Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, for many years.

Cavicchi was married to her late husband, Bob, for 54 years. She is survived by her three sons, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
