Gas Break on Edgemont Avenue in Reading

Workers struck a gas line Thursday on Edgemont Avenue near and Arcadia Avenue.

Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning, workers struck a gas line on Edgemont Avenue in Reading. According to Reading Police, residents were evacuated from their homes, but are all home safely as of Thursday afternoon.

The notified National Grid, and requested that the DPW put barricades up blocking West and Arcadia Streets.

The road was back open at 9:15 a.m. and residents were allowed back in their homes a few hours later.
