Before The Main Event, A Chance To Question MassDot Thursday
Main Street paving the subject of Wednesday discussion at the Reading Public Library.
READING, Ma. - If you had Sept. 8 as the date the state would start repaving Main Street, you win. Or it appears you'll win.
With the start of the Main Street repaving "estimated" to begin on Sunday, Sept. 8, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the Reading Engineering Department will hold a public meeting for residents and businesses on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the library. The focus of the discussion will be on phase I, South Main Street, the area between the Stoneham line and the railroad tracks.
MassDOT officials announced last week that the much anticipated Main Street Road Resurfacing project will begin in early September.

The entire Route 28 resurfacing project will go from the Stoneham town line to the North Reading town line, with the exception of the center commercial district which is in the Town’s domain.
The Library offers accessible parking and meeting space. Questions about the project should be directed to Ryan Percival, Town Engineer, at 781-942-6690.

And finally, remember to play nice with MassDOT officials. Don't come with questions about why the state is allowing cars to race down Haverhill Street. That's a discussion for another day. It's all about Main Street on Wednesday.
