Man Was Carrying 'Ghost Gun' In Reading, Police Say

A man is facing charges after police found he had an illegal, untraceable gun in Reading, according to police.

READING, MA — A man is accused of carrying an illegal, untraceable gun — also known as a ghost gun — in Reading, according to police.

A police officer was patrolling in the area of Main Street near Salem Street on Monday at 8:10 p.m. The officer spotted a Lexus with a brake light that wasn't working.

The officer ran the car's plates and discovered the car's registration had expired.

The officer stopped the car and noticed a 9mm bullet on the car's floor.

Police then searched the car and found a loaded 9 mm handgun with no serial number and numerous rounds of ammunition, according to police.

Gregory Raskind, 35, of Lexington, did not have a license to carry a gun and was charged with unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, improper storage of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of an untraceable firearm, defective equipment, and expired inspection sticker.

He was taken into custody and scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Woburn District Court.
