First responders received a 911 call at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday reporting a stabbing on Bond Street.

The suspect fled the scene of the crime on foot and was believed to be nearby. It was also believed that the suspect was armed with a razor blade or box cutter.

Police received mutual aid from North Reading and Wilmington, and the Woburn drone unit.

"Investigators have determined that all parties involved in this incident were known to each other, and there is no danger to the general public," police said in a statement.

Alexander was caught around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder on a person over 60.

Alexander was arraigned Tuesday in Woburn District Court, where he was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing that is scheduled for Sept. 27.
