Medford Resident Arrested After Several Car Breaks

A Medford male was arrested Thursday after several car breaks were reported. According to police, the male was not working alone and the search is still on for his partner.

Around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, police received a call from an Azalea Circle resident who reported that a male was attempting to break into a neighbors vehicle. Police responded immediately and were able to arrest Ricardo DeSouza, 21, of 94 R Spring St., Medford on Azalea Circle. DeSouza was arrested on charges of using a motor vehicle without authority and five counts of receiving stolen property.

Police received calls before and after DeSouza's arrest from residents reporting car breaks. They requested a canine to assist in the search of another suspect around 8 a.m., police said.

Around 9:30 a.m., a Belmont Street resident reported her car stolen. According to police, the car was later recovered in Cambridge near the Somerville line. 

Police are still searching for the second suspect.
