New Pizzeria, Ice Cream Shop Coming To Reading

READING, MA — A combination pizzeria-ice cream shop is coming to Reading. Cal's Creamery and Cal's Brick Oven Pizza went before the Community Planning and Development Commission May 4 to apply for a Minor Site Review for outdoor dining, the Reading Post first reported.

Owner Jared Palladino told the CPDC the plan calls for the homemade ice cream store and brick oven pizzeria to be separate businesses with seating for about 20-22 people each. The businesses will share a hallway in the same building at 122 Main Street and 82 Hopkins Street.

The ice cream store is expected to open sometime in the next week, followed by the pizzeria about a month later, Palladino said. He sought approval from the CPDC for permanent outdoor picnic tables for customers to bring their food after purchase.

The plan was conditionally approved upon sending of a shared parking agreement between the businesses and Harrow's Chicken Pies to the CPDC.
