Tewksbury--Fire Damages Recreation Building At Elderly Housing Development: Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of a mid-afternoon fire that caused significant damage to two rooms in the recreation room at the Carnation Drive elderly housing development.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Al Vassas, the fire broke out in the brick and wood structure at around 2 p.m. It started in a back room, used as a workshop, said Vassas.

Woburn--New David O. Russell Movie Starring Big Names to Film in Woburn Next Week: Mayor Scott Galvin posted to his Facebook page last night that there will be filming for a new movie at the Clapp School next week.
According to Galvin, the yet-to-be-named movie stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Admans, and Louis C.K. Film executives and crews have been working with Mayor Scott Galvin, Superintendent Mark Donovan, Police Chief Robert Ferullo, Fire Chief Paul Tortolano and other key city and school department officials to prepare for the day of filming.
Stoneham--Community Preservation Act Rejected by Voters: The majority of Stoneham residents who made their way to the polls in Tuesday's town election voted 'no' on the Community Preservation Act, which would've allowed the town to place a 1 percent surcharge on property taxes, with those funds and any matching funds from the state going to a fund specifically designated for open space, parks, recreational uses and conservation.
Meanwhile, Stoneham's incumbents won each of their contested races, although not without some strong challenges, according to results provided by Stoneham Town Clerk Maria Sagarino.
