North Reading Male Held in Protective Custody

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Wednesday through Thursday. The information is open to the public.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

• At 1:38 p.m., a caller reported an erratic operator on Main Street. Wilmington Police were able to identify the driver.
• At 1:44 p.m., a Burroughs Road resident reported that a male stopped at the house across from hers and took two letters from the mailbox.
• At 11:55 p.m., a caller reported a possible drunk male driving on Main Street. The caller followed the car into 7 Eleven and was confronted by the driver. Police were unable to locate the driver.

Thursday, Nov. 15

• At 10:10 a.m., a caller reported a minor car accident on Main Street.
• At 10:47 a.m., a caller reported harassing phone calls.
• At 2:44 p.m., the owner of Starlite Car Wash reported employee theft. She said she would handle it internally, but if the employee was not cooperative she would request assistance.
• At 4:05 p.m., a Junction Road resident reported that someone may have taken money from her home earlier that day.
• At 5:20 p.m., a caller reported harassing phone calls that he was receiving at his business and home.
• At 6:50 p.m., a caller reported a chimney fire on Hill Street.
• At 6:59 p.m., a caller reported that a drunk male was trying to get on his motorcycle in front of Sports, Spirits and Steaks. As a result of the call, a 48-year-old North Reading male was held in protective custody.
• At 7:13 p.m., a caller reported that she was involved in a hit and run on Main Street. The caller stated that she was hit while stopped at a red light at the intersection of Main and North Streets.
