A Letter to the Editor from Dan Dewar:

I’m supporting Carlo Bacci for Select Board and ask you to support him too on Tuesday April 2.

This year’s select board race is about balance and diversity. As a small business owner I
recognize the need for a voice which represents and understands the Reading business
community. We need to grow our revenue tax base to ensure sustainability. Carlo’s business
experience will benefit the Select Board in protecting the existing businesses and work to
attract new businesses. Carlo’s common sense and fiscally responsible approach will benefit the
community. Carlo like his opponents has new ideas; however he’s the only candidate with real
business experience in Reading and other communities in Massachusetts. Proposing to tax
empty store fronts isn’t a revenue generator it’s a double tax and something he doesn’t
support. Carlo alone pledged not to vote in support of an operating override for the next five
years because he recognizes the need to truly support our entire community including our
elders so they may continue to call Reading their home. As a small business owner he
understands needs and wants and working within a budget and will benefit the Select Board to
prioritize living within a budget especially with the day to day operational costs.
