Overnight Road Closures Scheduled For Reading Road

READING, MA — Overnight closures will affect Route 28 on Monday and Tuesday nights. The closures will start each night at 8 p.m. and continue until 5 a.m. the next day.

The closures will be on Route 28 (Main Street) both northbound and southbound from South Street to Summer Avenue.

The intersection at Main Street and Hopkins Street will be paved Monday night into Tuesday morning. The intersection at Main Street and Summer Avenue will be paved Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to a MassDOT statement.

Police details will be used to direct traffic on Route 28 at the affected intersections, and there will be signage during the work operations. Police details will also be used to direct traffic when detours are in place.

The work is being conducted as part of a $1.5 million project to resurface and perform related work along about less than a mile of roadway on this section of Route 28.
