Planet Fitness Projected to Open in March

According to VP of Operations for North Shore Fit Management, LLC Taylor Mandell the new Planet Fitness on Salem Street is planning a tentative grand opening in March.

The gym is still in the construction phase. So far, they have been working on the plumbing, electricity and HVAC units. They still need to install the flooring, put on a fresh coat of paint, have the equipment delivered and complete the exterior.

“We’re excited to be in Reading,” Mandell said.

People are welcome to stop by and see the progress the gym has made. You can also buy a pre-sale membership at a promotional rate. There are two memberships available.

If you pay $1 down and then $10 per month you will have a membership exclusive to the Reading facility.

The black card membership does not require any money down, but is $19.99 per month. With that membership you can go to any of the 600 Planet Fitness facilities nationwide. The membership also includes guest privileges; unlimited tanning; use of massage chairs, hydro massage beds and use of the total body enhancement booth, which is for non-tanning members and promotes healthy skin growth and reduces lines and wrinkles. There is no risk of burning or tanning in the booth because it uses infrared lights.

Both memberships are on a month to month basis and come with free unlimited group fitness training, which allows you to sit down with a trainer who will design a program for you revolving around your fitness goals and needs, Mandell said.

The pre-sale hours before the grand opening are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
