Police, Bagel World Address Traffic Safety Issues

Bagel World will implement express service from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Whole bagels okay, sandwiches and smears off the drive-thru menu.

READING, MA - Sometimes, having a popular business can create some issues.

Over the past several months, an ongoing safety concern has been caused by queued traffic in the Bagel World drive-thru line on Main Street, according to Reading police officials. This has caused stopped and standing traffic on route 28 both northbound and southbound, which in turn leads to obstructed sight lines and a growing number of distracted drivers.

The Reading police and the management of Bagel World are now working together to help fix some of those safety concerns.

In order to improve this traffic condition, Bagel World announces that the ordering process at the drive-thru window will be limited to Express Service only between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Express Service allows for the purchase of whole bagels, drinks, and cream cheese but does not allow menu items such as sandwiches and smears.

This should reduce the waiting time for customers of the drive-thru, and move the line along faster.

This is a short-term solution to improve a traffic situation. A more permanent solution that allows a return to the complete menu at the drive-thru during all hours may be developed, according to police and the The Kantorosinski family, which manages Bagel World.

In the meantime, customers can feel free to come inside for all menu items between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
