READING, MA — Greater Boston has no shortage of Irish pubs and sports bars where people can go out and have a good time.

But with a little planning, locals also have the option of the pub or sports bar coming to them.

Tiny Pubs is a Reading-based company run by brothers Craig and Matt Taylor. Launched in 2021, the company currently has two Wee Irish Pubs — built by Craig, Matt and a third brother for about $20,000 apiece —that it rents out for birthday parties, weddings, neighborhood gatherings and, of course, St. Patrick's Day celebrations, within 30 miles of Reading.

Craig Taylor recently told Patch that the company's third tiny pub, a Wicked Tiny Boston Sports Pub, is expected to be ready for rental in March. Plus, there are plans for one or two more Wee Irish Pubs

Profiled in the Washington Post last year, the Wee Irish Pubs are built in an 8-by-17-foot trailer and decorated to look like a miniature version of the real thing, complete with beer taps, an electric fireplace, wooden bar and Irish-themed paraphernalia on the walls. There also is a smart TV in order to stream a game or slide show.

Taylor told Patch that the Irish pubs have been "unbelievably popular," especially for milestone birthdays.

"It is a way for many to bring Ireland to their loved one," Taylor said.

Though the rental fee for the Tiny Pubs begins at $900 for 24 hours, Taylor told Patch that some weekends and weekdays in 2023 have been booked since early 2022.

Taylor said that people generally reserve the pub three to four months in advance of their planned event.

"We do recommend booking the pub as soon they have a date in mind," Taylor said. "Some dates have up to ten requests and we want to be fair, so it is recommended getting the deposit in quickly."

Taylor said much of this year's St. Patrick's Weekend was booked a year in advance, with many people who had the pub for St. Patrick's Weekend 2022 immediately securing a spot for the same weekend in 2023.

There is some limited weekday available ahead of the March 17 holiday, Taylor said.

Those interested in renting out one of the pubs can check availability on the Tiny Pubs website.
