Reading Continuing Talks Over Birch Meadow Improvements

Proposed improvements include walking trails, lighting systems, turf fields, pickleball courts, concessions and more.

READING, MA — There will be a public presentation on planned improvements to the Birch Meadow Complex during the Recreation Committee meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Proposed improvements to the town's largest open space recreation area include the addition of walking paths/trails, sports and pedestrian lighting systems, synthetic turf field surfaces, pickleball courts, storage, restrooms and opportunities for concessions.

This presentation will review the public engagement and design process that went into the development of the proposed conceptual site plan for Birch Meadow. It will also talk in detail about the proposed improvements for Birch Meadow over the next decade. Based upon feedback at the public presentation, adjustments can be made to the plan.
