Reading Crash: 79-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Seriously Injured

The woman, whose name was not revealed, reportedly was struck by a Nissan Rogue near Haverhill Street. The driver remained at the scene.

READING, MA —A 79-year-old woman suffered serious injuries Saturday when she reportedly was struck by a vehicle while walking in Reading, the Reading Police Department said.

The woman's name was not disclosed, nor was her hometown. Police said she was transported by ambulance to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington. After the initial report about the victim suffering serious injuries, no updates have been provided about her condition.

According to police reports, at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday in the area of 244 Haverhill St., Reading PD officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

The department said the 19-year-old operator of the vehicle, which was a Nissan Rogue, remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

The Reading PD said it continues to investigate the crash. The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, police said.
