Reading Field Hockey, Football Teams Among State Power Rankings Leaders
Both teams are among the top 10 teams in their respective MIAA divisions.

READING, MA — The latest round of state MIAA high school sports power rankings brought good news for Reading Memorial High School field hockey and football teams, placing both teams among the top ten schools in their respective sports and divisions this week.
Crucial in deciding playoff qualification and seeding, the strong placements put Reading well within the playoff picture for this year’s fall field hockey and football tournaments.
The field hockey team led the 51-team Division II field with an 11-1-2 record as of Tuesday morning. Nearly perfect on the scoresheet, Reading’s lone field hockey loss so far this fall came on Oct. 6 against Watertown.

Power rankings take a number of factors into account beyond wins and losses, including margins of victory and strength of opponents.
The football playoff field is capped at the top 16 teams with at least three wins and seven games played.
Alongside football and field hockey, Reading’s varsity boys soccer and girls volleyball teams were also in playoff positions as of Tuesday rankings.
