Reading Memorial High School Hires Interim Principal
The district has named an interim principal after Principal Kevin Tracey announced he will be leaving.
READING, MA — Jessica Callanan, director of academic achievement, has been named the interim principal for Reading Memorial High School. She will replace Principal Kevin Tracey, who recently announced he will be leaving the district.
Superintendent Dr. Thomas Milaschewski said, “We are fortunate to have a leader of Jess Callanan’s experience and caliber serving in the one-year interim principal position during this period of transition. We are excited to see how Jess works alongside the strong RMHS leadership team and staff to move our school forward during the 2023-2024 school year. We will share more information regarding the search for a full-time principal in late fall/early winter.”
School officials expressed in a letter to the community their "deepest gratitude to Principal Tracey for his dedicated service and committed to the RMHS community over the past two years."

The letter goes on to note that Callanan has worked closely in her role with Tracey to oversee all academic programming at the high school. She has also taken the lead in establishing and facilitating the Instructional Leadership Team, which is comprised of all department heads.
"Ms. Callanan brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as both a high school principal for six years (Woburn High School) and assistant principal for four years (Salem High School)," the letter reads.

The hiring search for the permanent principal position will being in the late fall or early winter.
