Reading METCO Hosts Two Family Friendly Events
Events Made Possible by Grant from Boston Bridges Initiative
Last month, Reading METCO hosted two events made possible by a grant from Boston Bridges Initiative.
The first was a Hispanic Heritage Month salsa class welcomed Reading and Boston residents, parents, and faculty to celebrate Hispanic culture through music and dance. Approximately 70 attendees participated in the event held at Coolidge Middle School.
The salsa class encouraged meaningful social interaction through shared learning, movement, and conversation. To further enrich the experience, Spanish food was catered for attendees to enjoy authentic cuisine while connecting and learning about Hispanic traditions.

Reading METCO also held a community engagement event held at Boston Bowl in Dorchester. The purpose of the event was to bring together local residents, families, and community members for a fun and inclusive gathering that fostered connection and engagement. Approximately 90 people of all ages from the surrounding neighborhoods attended. The event provided a welcoming space for participants to connect, enjoy recreational activities, and learn more about local initiatives.
