Reading Municipal Light Plans Car Show At Farmers Market
The car show will highlight a variety of plug-in electric cars from area dealerships and individual owners.
READING, MA — An annual electric car show by the Reading Municipal Light Department will return this weekend at the Wilmington Farmers Market.
The event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The farmers market is located at the Swain Green at 140 Middlesex Ave. in Wilmington.
The car show will highlight a variety of plug-in electric vehicles from area car dealerships. Local electric vehicle owners can also showcase their vehicles.

The event aims to help attendees learn about electric vehicle options. Attendees can also get information on home and public charging stations, incentive programs and rebates available from Reading Municipal Light.
A 2020 plan published by the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs noted plans to phase out the sale of new gas-powered vehicles in Massachusetts by 2035. As state officials and environmental activists eye those plans, many have repeatedly noted a need to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure to promote more widespread electric vehicle ownership, as noted in a 2021 Scientific American article.
