Reading PD Officer Maria Nacopoulos Promoted To Sergeant

Nacopoulos, who started with the department in 2020, is a certified field training officer and a member of the NELEC Regional Response Team.

READING, MA — The Reading Police Department has announced that Officer Maria Nacopoulos has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Nacopoulos, who has been with the department since early 2020, officially will be appointed to her new position on July 10, according to the Reading PD.

During her time with the Reading Police Department, Nacopoulos has taught self-defense skills to women as a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) instructor. She also is a certified field training officer and serves as a member of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NELEC) Regional Response Team.

Nacopoulos also has received the Reading PD's Life Saving Ribbon for her quick actions in administering CPR and resuscitating an unconscious person.

"I want to congratulate Officer Nacopoulos on her well-deserved promotion," Reading Police Chief David Clark said. "Throughout her career, she has gone above and beyond in her service to the Reading Police Department, and I am excited to see her continue to contribute to the department and the community as a sergeant."
