Man Arrested After Barricading Himself Inside Reading Home
Vincent Martorano, 50, refused to come out of a home under construction on Grand Street when officers tried to arrest him, police said.

READING, MA — An Amesbury man was arrested after barricading himself inside a vacant home in Reading Monday, police said. Officers attempted to issue a restraining order to 50-year-old Vincent Martorano and arrest him on outstanding warrants at a construction site on Grand Street, police said.
Martorano refused to come out of a home under construction at the site, according to a statement from the Reading Police Department. Other workers were safely evacuated from the scene, police said.
A SWAT team provided support at the scene, and the situation was peacefully resolved after a little over an hour. Martorano was charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

No injuries were reported. Several streets in the area were shut down Monday morning, but have since reopened.
