Reading Police Arrest Man On Drug Charges

George Bryson II of Methuen was found with a warrent on a separate charge in New Hampshire.

READING, MA — A Methuen man is facing a series of drug charges after an arrest in Reading over the weekend, Reading Police announced on Monday morning.

Police said they found George Bryson II, 37, via a traffic stop on Saturday night. An officer soon found Bryson’s license and registration was expired and that Bryson was wanted on a drug charge out of the Rockingham Sheriff’s Office in New Hampshire, according to police.

Police said they took Bryson into custody before conducting a search of the vehicle he was driving. There, they said, they found money and “a variety of illegal prescription drugs” including crack cocaine, Xanax, Venlafaxine, Alprazolam, Oxycodone, Buprenorphine and a series of unidentified pills.

Police said they also found boxes of sandwich bags, straws, burnt tin foil and a metal spoon with residue. These items, police said, were all consistent with use of narcotics.

  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle Without a License
  • Possession of a Class A Substance (Oxycodone)
  • Possession of a Class B substance (3 counts - Buprenorphine and Naloxone, Crack Cocaine and Adderall)
  • Possession of a Class C Substance With Intent to Distribute (Xanax)
  • Possession of a Class C Substance (Psilocybin Mushrooms)
  • Possession of a Class E Substance (Two Counts - Testosterone Cypionate and Venlafaxine Hydrochloride)
  • Possession of Fireworks
  • Fugitive From Justice

Bryson was due to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Monday. Police said they had been in touch with the Rockingham Sheriff’s office regarding extradition.
