Reading Police Officer Struck By Pickup Truck

Police are searching for a driver after a police officer was struck by a truck Saturday.

READING, MA — A Reading police officer was struck by a driver while conducting a traffic stop Saturday night, according to police. Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the driver.

A police officer was conducting a routine traffic stop at 7:29 p.m. near 326 Lowell St. at Willow Street when they were struck on the elbow by the side-view mirror of a passing pickup truck. The car was traveling east on Lowell Street and turned south on Willow Street, according to police.

The officer was treated at a local hospital for injuries that are not believed to be serious and was released.

The pickup truck is red with a black bumper and is believed to be an older model. The vehicle may also have a light strip across the back of the tailgate door, police said.

Police are asking residents to check personal surveillance footage that may have captured the incident in the area of Lowell Street and Willow Street.
