Reading Public Library Offering Workshops For Job Seekers

The four workshops will be conducted by career coach Gary Gekow and are part of the library's new Job Search Essentials service.

READING, MA — The Reading Public Library has announced that it is launching a Job Search Essentials service next month that will feature a four-part workshop series.

The workshops, which begin Feb. 13 and run through early April, are facilitated by Gary Gekow, a senior employment specialist/career coach with 30 years of recruiting and employment services experience in the New England staffing industry.

"(Gekow) partners with job seekers across a wide range of specialties and assists with a variety of employment search strategies including resume creation, interview coaching, LinkedIn, profile branding, and career counseling. He also works with client companies in various industries," the Reading Public Library said in a statement.

The first workshop will be conducted via Zoom, while the others are in the conference room at the library, located at 64 Middlesex Ave.

Job seekers also have the option of booking a one-on-one appointment with a reference librarian to learn about valuable resources for their job search.

The four scheduled workshops are:

  • Changing Careers: Reinventing Oneself in Today's Job Market, 7 p.m. on Feb. 13. via Zoom
  • Resume Writing Review, 7 p.m. on March 15 in the Reading Public Library Conference Room
  • In-Person Interviews, 7 p.m. on March 29 in the Reading Public Library Conference Room
  • Answering "Why Should We Hire You?" 7 p.m. on April 5 in the Reading Library Conference Room.

Registration for the workshops is required and can be done online.
