Reading Resident Saves Woman's Life After Marathon Bombings

Shores Salter saved Roseann Sdoia's life on Marathon Monday.

Reading resident and Northeastern University student Shores Salter acted quickly after the marathon bombings and saved a woman's life, according to an article on wcvb.com. Ealier this week, he found out who she was.

Dracut resident Roseann Sdoia was badly injured after one of the bombs went off on Boylston Street. 

"When that bomb went off, I did look down and there was a pool of blood and it was quickly filling. I was thinking, 'If this is coming from me I'm going to die,'" Sdoia said in the article.

Salter immediately came to her aid and used a belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Two others helped and they got the belt around her, the article said. Salter applied pressure to the wounds, hoping the bleeding would stop.

Sdoia's leg was amputated above the knee. She has burns on her arms and staples in her stomach, the article said.

Not knowing who Sdoia was and if she had survived after the marathon was a "terrible experience" Salter said in the article.

Sdoia wanted to know who saved her and in an effort to identify Salter, his photo was posted on wcvb.com. His high school friends saw his photo and texted him right away, the article said. Now, he wants to meet Sdoia to tell her that she is an inspiration, according to the article.
