Reading Resident to Hike White Mountains to Raise Money for Domestic Violence
Ann Fisher will participate in the Elizabeth Stone House Wilderness Heals Pledge Hike to raise money for those affected by domestic violence.

Reading resident Ann Fisher will particpate in the Elizabeth Stone House Wilderness Heals pledge hike. The profits from the hike help survivors of domestic violence.
Including Ann, 59 women will participate this year and hike the White Mountains in New Hampshire. The trip will last for three days.
This will be the 17th annual hike to offer support for families affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues and more. The money the women raised goes to the Elizabeth Stone House so they can continue to help those in need. The participants have already raised $52,000, with a goal of $130,000.

"This will be my fourth hike for the Elizabeth Stone House. I do the hike because it melds two things that I feel passionately about - providing services for people who've been traumatized or are struggling with addiction or mental illness - and hiking. I get to do something I really enjoy with a terrific group of women and at the same time be raising money for something I believe in," Fisher said. " I especially love that we include residents of Elizabeth Stone House in completing the hike since I know how transformative and healing physical exercise and being in nature can be for everyone. I like that the ESH's approach is very strength-based, collaborative and empowering of the folks with whom they work."
Fisher lives in Reading with her husband and two sons. She works as a clinical social worker in Woburn and is part of the adjunct faculty at Salem State University.
