Reading Schools To Dismiss Early Due To Extreme Heat
School officials have provided details for Thursday's early release schedule as the state deals with a heat wave.
READING, MA — Reading schools announced early dismissal for Thursday's classes due to extreme heat.
The district wrote on its Facebook page:
"Due to tomorrow’s extreme heat/humidity projections, tomorrow, September 7, 2023 will be an early release day for all RPS students (except for R.I.S.E. students at RMHS).

"Elementary schools will dismiss at 12:45pm, middle schools will dismiss at 12:30pm, and RMHS will dismiss at 1:03pm. R.I.S.E. students at Killam and Wood End will dismiss at 12:45pm and R.I.S.E. students at RMHS will dismiss at their normal time.
"Stay cool!"

A heat advisory was issued for much of the state Wednesday lasting until Thursday at 8 p.m. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s with the heat index climbing to 100.
