READING, MA — Reading may finalize its hiring process for a new town Treasurer/Assistant Finance Director on Tuesday following the departure of former treasurer Endri Kume, according to Select Board documents attached to the board’s Tuesday meeting agenda.

The town has already made a conditional offer to Dianne Morabito, who is currently working as a self-employed bookkeeper. Morabito’s hiring is now set to go before the Select Board for approval on Tuesday.

Kume had served in Reading since 2017 after coming to town from a position at Babson College. He then announced his departure in a message to the Select Board earlier this month, according to an update from Town Manager Fidel Maltez. Maltez did not share Kume’s next steps, saying instead that Kume will be leaving Reading “for a different opportunity.”

“Mr. Kume leaves the Town in great standing, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Maltez said.

Morabito boasts a long career in accounting and finance positions, serving in controller and accounting roles for New England Confectionery (NECCO) in Revere from 2013 to 2018, according to her resume.
