Reading Town Meeting Starts Tonight

Town Meeting will be held at RMHS.

Town Meeting starts Monday night at Reading Memorial High School at 7:30 p.m.

Residents can expect the meeting to cover "a series of routine articles, many of them financial for either the current FY13 or next year," according to Assistant Town Manager Robert LeLacheur.

There are also a series of articles on the warrant ranging from minor land use issues to a couple of proposed changes to bylaws, LeLacheur said.

One of the land issues LeLacheur is referring to is Article 19 on the warrant, which the School Committee voted to support at a recent meeting. This particular article transfers the control of parcels in the Birch Meadow complex to the town, according to the Daily Times Chronicle. Officials will look to make the boundaries and control of the land clear.

There will also be a Special Town Meeting regarding zoning at 8 p.m. Thursday.

"I believe that we will have the Special Town Meeting next Thursday to discuss zoning at the Eric’s Greenhouse site," LeLacheur said.

Artis Senior Living proposes to build a 64-unit facility, where Eric's was once located on Main Street, for elders who need help with daily living activities, consultant for Artis Patrick Mallon told Patch.

"I would not describe any of the articles as highly contentious, but the Special Town Meeting may generate a lot of discussion," LeLacheur told Patch.
