Reading Voted for Gomez

Gomez got more votes in Reading, but Markey won the election.

Residents voted Tuesday in the Senate special election. Both Republican Gabriel Gomez and Democrat Ed Markey were in the race for the Senate seat once held by John Kerry. Markey won the election, but Gomez won over Reading voters.

Originally, Town Clerk Laura Gemme was expecting 20 percent of voters at the polls, but 30.1 percent actually voted. It went really well, she said.
