Reading's Meadow Brook Golf Club Names Kevin Franey Head Golf Pro

READING, MA — Meadow Brook Golf Club in Reading has announced that it has hired Kevin Franey as its head golf professional.

Franey, who is scheduled to begin his new position next Wednesday, is a PGA golf pro with 14 years of experience working at private golf clubs.

For the last six years, Franey has been the lead assistant golf professional at Ferncroft Country Club, in Middleton. In that position, Franey ran over 50 annual men's and women's golf events, provided golf instruction, and managed and trained a golf staff. He also picked up extensive experience in club fitting.

Before joining Ferncroft, Franey worked at several well-known courses including: Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, Boston Golf Club in Hingham, The Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, North Carolina, Essex Country Club in Manchester and Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

"At each club, Kevin worked in positions with progressive levels of responsibility and honed his trade working for top-notch PGA professionals," Meadow Brook Golf Club said in a statement. "Kevin brings to Meadow Brook a strong knowledge of golf operations, a recent Pro-Am title (won at Meadowbrook in 2002) and a ton of enthusiasm for the position."

Franey graduated from Campbell University — located in Buies Creek, North Carolina — with a Bachelor of Business Administration in PGA golf management.

Joining Franey at Meadow Brook this season will be returning Assistant Golf Pro Ryan Hamelin and new Assistant Golf Pros Ryan Christopher and Corey McKenna.
