Reading's Paul Robichaud Passes Away

Longtime town resident was three-year two-way starter and captain of his high school football team.

An obituary by the Barile Family Funeral Home:

Paul Robichaud of Essex, formerly of Reading, passed away on Wednesday, July 3 at the age of 72.

He was the loving husband of Sally (Sarah) Robichaud. Son of the late Joseph W. Robichaud, Sr. and Evelyn A. Robichaud (Tryder). He is also preceded by his late sister Kathleen M. Robichaud and his wife Sally's late son, Tommy Henderson. He was the beloved brother of Joseph W Robichaud, Jr. and his wife Mary, Cheryl Robichaud Kelly, William C. Robichaud, Sr. and his wife Janet and James D. Robichaud and his wife Shari. He, also, leaves his wife's loving family in Ireland.
He was treasured by and deeply loved his nieces and nephews Joseph, Renee, Laurence, Sean, William, Christopher, Nicole, Alexandra and Victoria as well as, his many cousins and friends.

Paul was born in Chelsea, MA, where he lived in the projects until his family moved to Reading, MA when he was ten. He graduated from Reading Memorial High School, Class of '65. He was a three-year two-way starter and captain of his high school football team. He was, also, a first team all-scholastic in football and invited to and played in the Harry Agganis bowl. He wrestled varsity his junior year and placed third in the state in his weight class. He finished his only season of wrestling with only one loss in the state championship to the eventual state champion.

He was a graduate of UMass Amherst with a bachelor's degree in Restaurant Management and spent his career working in the industry. While working in North Conway, NH for ten years he learned and became an avid skier. His career eventually led him to Massachusetts's North Shore were he enjoyed boating, clamming, horseback riding and collecting antiques.

Paul spent many summers with his family at Keoka Beach Campground in Waterford, Maine. He especially loved his dogs Max, Gus I and Gus II.

Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Wednesday, July 10th at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Paul's Eternal Life in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Tuesday, July 9th from 4-8 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
